History

Alpha Tau Omega nationally has over 250 active and inactive chapters, more than 200,000 initiates, and over 7,000 undergraduate brothers. It is the premier leadership development and social fraternity in the country, and the third-largest national fraternity in the nation. Alpha Tau Omega Gamma Omega Chapter at Penn State was established in 1924.

Alpha Tau Omega is also a Lion Shrine Member organization in the IFC/Panhellenic Dancer Marathon for years of consistent dedication to the fight against pediatric cancer. Alpha Tau Omega and their paired sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha, raised $322,346.80 throughout THON 2021.

Located at 321 East Fairmount, the Alpha Tau Omega house is a national landmark due to its rich and longstanding history as both a fraternity house and military barracks during World War II.
